Georgian judokas continue fighting for Abu Dhabi Grand Slam medals

Georgian judokas, Beka Gviniashvili (90 kg), and Sophio Somkhishvili (+78) continue fighting for Abu Dhabi Grand Slam medals.

Gviniashvili will face Serbian Nemanja Majdov in the semi-finals after defeating Greek Theodoros Tselidis in the quarter-finals.

Sophio Somkhishvili has just defeated the Portuguese Rochele Nunes by Waza-ri in the semi-finals and reached the finals.

Four more Georgian judokas, Irakli Demetrashvili (+100 kg), Giorgi Beriashvili (100 kg), Onise Saneblidze (100 kg), and Ushangi Margiani (90 kg) had previously fallen to their opponents.

Georgia has earned one gold (Giorgi Sardalashvili, 60 kg) and one bronze (Eter Lipartelian, 57 kg) so far.

The Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, is hosting the 2022 Judo Grand Slam Abu Dhabi from October 21 to October 23, 2022.
