Georgian judoka Vazha Margvelashvili to compete at Paris Olympics today

A judo tournament is underway at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, featuring Georgian athlete Vazha Margvelashvili (66 kg), the finalist from the Tokyo Olympics.

Margvelashvili, the reigning European champion, will skip the first round and face the winner between Mohammad Rashnonejad of the refugee Olympic team and Frenchman Walide Khyar in the second stage. If successful, he will avoid meeting the main contender for the gold medal, Japanese Hifumi Abe, until the finals.

Preliminary matches start at 12:00 Tbilisi time, with repêchage, semi-final, and final matches from 18:00.
