“On the decree of Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, to prevent a possible outbreak of novel coronavirus, direct flights between Georgia and the People’s Republic of China will be suspended from January 28 through winter season, that is, March 29, 2020,“ Prime Minister’s Press Office reports.

Press Office notes that “the Action Plan developed by the Government defines preventive measures against a possible outbreak of a novel coronavirus-related disease; also, in case of identification, nationwide steps necessary to deal with such a disease.“

“To prevent and ensure effective response to a possible outbreak of novel coronavirus, the Government of Georgia approved the relevant Decree #164 and Action Plan.

The decree obligates each agency to take relevant steps within its purview. The effort will be coordinated by the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia.

The Ministry of Finance has been instructed to allocate financial resources, if need be, from appropriate assignations, including the Georgian Government’s reserve fund,“ Press Office stated.

According to the official statement released by the Georgian Government, “the Action Plan seeks to provide the public and media with correct information, to which end the Public Broadcaster of Georgia has been requested to supply the public at large with correct and useful information on coronavirus and ways to mitigate its risks.“

“The measures set forth in the Action Plan involve participation from the Interior Ministry, the Finance Ministry’s Revenue Service LEPL, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the Foreign Ministry, and other governmental institutions, within the areas of their expertise,“ the statement reads.
