Georgian gov't to continue supporting tourism, PM says

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze attended the presentation of a new hotel and recreation complex in Sioni, Mtskheta-Mtianeti Municipality.

In his speech, the PM said the country sees “extraordinary trends in tourism – the number of hotels has increased three times over the past 12 years.”

As the head of the government noted, around 800 hotels were operational throughout the country by 2012, and as of now, over 1600 hotels have been added to the tourist sector.

“Of course, the government will continue to support tourism and such projects in the future. Such projects mean more employment, a stronger economy, and stronger regions, and of course, the implementation of this project is significant for the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region,” he added.
