Georgian gov't spares no effort to help ease Ukrainian suffering, Interior Minister says
Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri stressed the Georgian government spares no effort to help ease Ukrainian suffering, pledging “Georgia is helping Ukraine far as possible.”
Reporting to the Parliamentary Trust Group, the Minister continued: “Our territories have been occupied; we are affected. We faced a war a few years ago, followed by losing territories. Today, Russian troops are deployed on the Georgian territory. We cannot help as much as Germany, France, the big EU countries do. We supported all the resolutions. We are ready to stand by Ukraine.”
Gomelauri also remarked on the Ukrainian Ambassador recall, dubbing it “incomprehensible” as “they [Ukraine] recalled the ambassador from here but kept one in Belarus.”
“There is a war, and I do not want to slam Mr Zelenskyy. He called our government’s act immoral, which is unacceptable as it does not fit in either diplomacy or politics. Georgia has done all in its power,” Gomelauri added.
