Georgian FM: OSCE PA President’s visit is positive development, he received information directly from top officials on processes
“The visit of the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is a positive development. It is good that the visit took place, that he held meetings with representatives of the Georgian government, and that he received information directly from top officials about the ongoing processes in Georgia,” said the Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili.
According to Bochorishvili, the discussions with the OSCE representative also covered regional security, the situation in the occupied territories, and broader challenges in the OSCE area.
“The areas of interest also included Georgia’s internal political situation following the 2024 parliamentary elections. One thing is clear: we all agree that politicians’ place is in parliament, and that boycotts are harmful only to those who participate in them. This view is shared by everyone discussing Georgia’s internal political situation. Regarding the rule of law, one principle is certain: the law is equal for everyone, and this principle guides the Georgian government in dealing with any lawbreaker,” Botchorishvili said.
When asked by a journalist about the ruling team’s response to a request for the release of political prisoners, Botchorishvili replied, “That term has not been used; I don’t know what it means.”
