Georgian FM meets Spanish colleague in Reykjavík

Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili has met with his Spanish colleague José Manuel Albares on the sidelines of the 4th Council of Europe summit in Reykjavík.

According to the Georgian MFA, the duo talked about the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in both bilateral and multilateral formats.

The discussion also touched on Georgia’s progress on its path to European integration, the process of implementation of EC’s 12 recommendations, and the importance of getting the EU candidate status.

In this context, the role of Spain which will assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union during the second half of 2023, was underscored.

Ilia Darchiashvili thanked his Spanish colleague for his strong support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for the country’s European aspirations. The parties once again confirmed their readiness to continue and further intensify the fruitful cooperation, reads the press statement.
