Georgian FM meets NATO Special Representative

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili, met with Javier Colomina, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of NATO for the South Caucasus and Central Asia, during the 75th anniversary summit of NATO in Washington.

The discussion centred on the agenda of the summit and key topics to be addressed. It was underscored that Georgia’s participation in the summit reaffirms the successful progress of Georgia’s integration into NATO.

The parties focused on Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration, highlighting Georgia’s status as an aspirant country and its consistent role as a dependable ally contributing significantly to Euro-Atlantic security.

Georgia’s advancements in strengthening its defense capabilities on the path to Euro-Atlantic integration were recognized. The importance of both practical support and political backing from NATO was emphasized.

Discussions also covered regional developments, including the security environment and Russia’s conflict in Ukraine.

The participants acknowledged that enhancing security in the broader Black Sea region is crucial for ensuring peace and stability across the Euro-Atlantic area. They agreed to maintain active cooperation towards achieving shared objectives.
