Georgian FM meets MEP Waszczykowski

Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili held a meeting with European Parliament member Witold Waszczykowski as part of his Brussels visit.

The parties reviewed the prospect of deepening Georgia-EU cooperation, as well as laying stress on the European Council’s decision to grant Georgia a European perspective, “which recognizes Georgia’s progress on its path to joining the European Union,” Georgian MFA noted.

The parties expressed hope that Georgia would receive EU candidate status soon, with the European Parliament playing a positive role.

Alluding to the regional challenges, the dignitaries discussed the humanitarian and security situation in the occupied territories of Georgia and the EU’s role in the peaceful resolution of the conflict.

The PM-led Georgian delegation is partaking in the 7th meeting of the Georgia-EU Association Council.
