Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili Monday held a meeting with his Bulgarian colleague Teodora Genchovska as part of his visit to Brussels.

FM Darchieashi said they exchanged views “on our bilateral agenda, aspects of regional security, as well as Georgia’s European integration and Bulgaria’s steady support in this context.”

According to the Georgian MFA, Bulgaria “positively assessed” Georgia’s completion of the EU membership questionnaires and also reaffirmed Bulgaria’s strong support for Georgia’s European aspirations.

It further noted that the meeting also “positively evaluated” Georgia’s successful progress on its path to European integration, the implemented reforms and Georgia’s leading position in the Eastern Partnership format.

The Ministry added that the Bulgarian Foreign Minister invited her Georgian counterpart to Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.

Georgian Foreign Minister is meeting his counterparts from the European Union within the EU Foreign Relations Council sitting. Discussions will focus on the EU integration agenda, the EU self-assessment questionnaire handed in by the Georgian Government and the security situation in the region, the MFA added.
