Georgian Finance Minister, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade, sign agreements on cooperation in customs, financial sectors

Within the framework of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s state visit to Georgia, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Georgian Finance Ministry and Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan.

Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili and Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov inked the document. The memorandum will contribute to bilateral cooperation intensification in public finances and economic management.

Based on the memorandum, the two ministries of Georgia and Uzbekistan will cooperate in public finance management, budget planning, tax policy, financial and budgetary accountability, accounting and audit, state loan and other areas. The memorandum also comprises exchange of information, erpertise and consulting.

Earlier today, the ministers signed the Agreement between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Cooperation and Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs Matters.

The agreement concerns the prevention of customs legislation violations. It will facilitate the strengthening of cooperation between the customs administrations of Georgia and the Republic of Uzbekistan and the expansion of economic ties between the two countries.
