Georgian Embassy in Israel: Citizens can exit Israel via Egypt or Jordan
The Georgian Embassy in Israel announced that Georgian citizens wishing to leave Israel have the option to do so through Egypt or Jordan.
Via Jordan: Citizens can cross the border at the Yitzhak Rabin Crossing (operational from 08:00 to 20:00) or the Jordan River Crossing (09:00 to 16:00). Both checkpoints are accessible by taxi, bus, or train. Travelers exiting Israel must pay a 122-shekel exit fee. A Jordanian visa, costing approximately $70, must be obtained at the border. Transportation from the border to Amman is available via taxi, bus, or minibus. The Jordan River Crossing is roughly a 2-hour drive to Amman, while the Yitzhak Rabin Crossing takes about 4 hours. From Amman, flights to Georgia or via third countries are available. Note: Jordan’s airspace may be temporarily closed during bombings, which can cause delays and long queues.
Via Egypt: Citizens can use the Taba border crossing, which operates 24/7 near Eilat. The crossing is accessible by car, bus, or train. A visa ($25) and a permit to travel within Egypt ($21) are required and can be obtained at the border. Taxis and minibuses are available to Sharm el-Sheikh, with the journey taking approximately 2.5 hours. From Sharm el-Sheikh, direct flights to Georgia are available. Note: Travelers should expect long queues and intensive questioning by Israeli border guards and security personnel.
The Embassy advised citizens to plan ahead and stay informed about border operations and potential delays.
