Georgian Dream: Parliamentary regulations to be amended for opposition to better participate in parliament
The Georgian Dream party aims at giving maximum opportunities to the opposition parties to be fully involved in parliamentary activities. Accordingly, we will amend the parliamentary regulations this week so that opposition MPs could unite as a group and nominate candidates for deputy speaker and deputy chairman of the committee, Mamuka Mdinaradze, Executive Secretary of the Georgian Dream, said at a briefing on Monday.
Mdinaradze also added, “GD would also increase to 15 minutes the speaking time for the opposition parties that are not able to form factions so that they were actively involved in parliamentary debates.”
As for the authority termination for those members of the opposition who renounced their mandates, the Georgian parliament would vote on the issue on February 2, Mdinaradze said.
However, as far as termination of authority is concerned, we try our best to bring the relevant deadline and decision to the last minute. Therefore, the Committee on Procedural Issues will review their applications on January 27-28 before forwarding them to the Parliament Bureau.
