Georgian Diaspora Forum “Strong Diaspora for United Georgia” will be held in Tbilisi on May 27-28, which is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the first Democratic Republic of Georgia.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the forum aims at deepening links with compatriots residing abroad, discussing the challenges facing the Georgian diaspora and seeking effective ways to support diaspora organizations.
Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze will officially open the event on May 27. The President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze will address the participants with the welcome speeches. The meeting with Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II is scheduled within the event.
