Georgian Defense Minister meets US Ambassador

The Minister of Defense of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, hosted the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Georgia, Kelly Degnan.

The sides reviewed the 2021 defense cooperation, jointly implemented projects, and discussed the plans for this year, the press service of the Ministry of Defense reported.

The 2021 bilateral cooperation will focus on the successful completion of the Georgian Defense Readiness Program (GDRP), development of intelligence and cyber defense capabilities, strengthening of special operations forces, joint military exercises planned in Georgia, and participation in international peacekeeping missions.

The US Ambassador expressed support for the implemented and ongoing reforms in the Georgian Defense Forces and readiness to deepen the cooperation.
