Georgian Defence Minister: Opposition parliament boycott to be irresponsible
“The opposition’s decision to boycott parliament is irresponsible and anti-state,” Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Gharibashvili said in an interview with IMEDI TV.
“Four rounds of talks were held with the opposition. We were ready to discuss all common sense ideas. Then we saw an attack on the US and EU ambassadors to Georgia,” Defence Minister noted.
“The United National Movement (UNM) and Giga Bokeria’s party (European Georgia) are the same. The provocation planned by irresponsible and anti-state people failed. By intimidating people, Saakashvili believed he could return to power but failed. We all agree that Mikheil Saakashvili will never return to power in this country,” Gharibashvili said.
All eight opposition parties/blocs that passed the 1% election threshold refuse to enter the parliament. The opposition believes the elections were rigged.
