Georgian Defence Minister meets Turkish counterpart in Azerbaijan

Georgia’s Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Irakli Chikovani, held bilateral talks with his Turkish counterpart, Yaşar Güler, on the sidelines of the Trilateral Defence Ministerial in Azerbaijan.

The Defence Minister thanked his Turkish counterpart for Ankara’s unwavering support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, highlighting Turkey’s vital role in modernising and strengthening the Georgian Defence Forces.

During their bilateral session, the two defence chiefs reviewed ongoing defence cooperation across multiple strategic areas and welcomed the ongoing momentum of high-level ministerial visits. Both sides underscored the critical importance of both bilateral and trilateral security frameworks in maintaining regional stability.

The talks focused heavily on regional security dynamics, broader Black Sea maritime security, and shared geopolitical challenges across the South Caucasus. Senior members of the Georgian and Turkish defence delegations attended the bilateral meeting.
