Georgian Defence Minister attends Ramstein-format meeting

The Georgian Defence Minister is currently in the Kingdom of Belgium. Irakli Chikovani attended the 35th meeting of the Ramstein format in Brussels, according to information released by the Ministry of Defence.

“The meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group is being co-hosted by German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius and the UK’s Secretary of State for Defence, Dan Jarvis. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the attendees, with further speeches delivered by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and U.S. Under Secretary of Defence Elbridge Colby.

Defence ministers and high-ranking officials from both Alliance member states and partner nations attended the meeting. Participants reviewed the current situation of the ongoing war in Ukraine and discussed its military assistance requirements.

The Ramstein format was established in April 2022 at the initiative of the United States. Since February 13, 2025, it has been jointly coordinated by the United Kingdom and Germany,” the Ministry of Defence statement reads.
