Georgian Defence Forces Chief meets US Georgia National Guard delegation
The Head of Georgia’s Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Giorgi Matiashvili, has met with a delegation from the Georgia Army National Guard, led by Major General Richard Wilson.
According to the Georgian Defence Ministry, the sides discussed issues related to developing defence cooperation between Georgia and the United States.
“The conversation covered the State Partnership Program, as well as the participation of Georgian and American military personnel in multilateral exercises,” the ministry said in a statement.
The US Georgia National Guard delegation is in Tbilisi in connection with the 30th anniversary of cooperation between Georgia’s National Guard and the US state of Georgia’s National Guard.
The American delegation also visited National Guard units during their stay.
On the same day, a ceremony took place to honour and see off Defence Attaché Colonel Joseph Bilbos and Lieutenant Colonel Erol Munir.
