Georgian Corner opens in Latvia’s Bauska

A Georgian Corner has been ceremonially opened at the office of Latvian youth organization “Time for Youth” (Laiks Jauniešiem) in the city of Bauska, as part of a visit by a delegation representing Georgian youth organizations to Latvia.

The initiative is a practical result of close cooperation between Georgian and Latvian youth organizations and aims to deepen civic dialogue between young people from the two countries and strengthen the role of people-to-people diplomacy.

The newly opened Georgian Corner features a selection of literature on Georgia’s history, culture and art, as well as various elements of Georgian culture intended to introduce local young people and visitors to Georgia’s rich heritage.

The space will periodically host educational and cultural events dedicated to Georgia. As part of bilateral cooperation, plans are also underway to send Georgian volunteers to Latvia annually. They will participate directly in the activities of Latvian youth organizations and contribute to further strengthening partnership relations between Georgian and Latvian youth.

The Georgian participants said they believe that spaces such as the Georgian Corner in Bauska will significantly contribute to bringing the two peoples closer together and supporting Georgia’s European integration process.

The visit was carried out with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia.
