Georgian companies to launch on Alibaba.com with Produce in Georgia support
Georgian firms, backed by the Produce in Georgia agency under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, are set to join the world’s leading B2B e-commerce platform Alibaba.com.
According to the Ministry of Economy, the initial phase will see up to 50 Georgian companies registered on the platform.
“The agency will fully cover annual membership fees and other costs associated with product promotion and platform placement. Georgian companies will hold Global Gold Supplier status, which is a form of verification that builds trust and helps potential buyers make confident, well-informed decisions.
Placement on Alibaba.com offers Georgian companies a unique opportunity to enter global markets, attract international partners and boost exports,” the ministry stated.
According to the Ministry of Economy, the selection process for companies will unfold in two stages.
“In the first phase, companies with the highest scores over several years on the Produce in Georgia electronic platform (tradewithgeorgia.com) were ranked and selected. In the second phase, companies presented to the Alibaba.com team will undergo additional verification. Once the selection process is complete, the Produce in Georgia agency will organise targeted training for the companies before the launch of the platform.
An Alibaba.com team visit to Georgia is planned shortly, during which representatives from the leading e-commerce platform will familiarise themselves with Georgian products.
Founded in 1999, Alibaba.com is the world’s leading B2B e-commerce platform serving buyers and suppliers across 200 countries and regions. The platform encompasses various commercial sectors, helping businesses enter global markets whilst assisting buyers in discovering products, finding suppliers and placing orders swiftly and efficiently,” the Ministry of Economy announced.
