Georgian Coast Guard law enforcement tactical group to participate in NATO Maritime Security Mission

Members of the Coast Guard Department’s Law Enforcement Tactical Group of the Georgian Border Police, under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will participate in NATO’s maritime security operation, “Operation SEA GUARDIAN.”

Davit Tamazashvili, Chief of the Border Police, saw off 12 members of the Tactical Group at Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport. He wished the team success and reiterated that this marks the third time Georgia’s unit has been involved as an operational partner in the NATO-led Maritime Security Operation under the auspices of the North Atlantic Alliance.

The group was also farewelled and wished a successful mission by Giorgi Gureshidze, First Deputy Head of the Border Police; David Bitskinashvili, Deputy Head of the NATO-Georgia Essential Package Core Group; Colonel Georgi Pelesteanu; Tamila Teliashvili, Manager of the NATO-Georgia Essential Package Program Funds; Iuri Pirtskhalaishvili, Head of the Coast Guard Department; Ramaz Papidze, Head of the International Relations Division; and Vladimer Bunturidze, Head of the Administration.
