Georgian climbers win Piolets d'Or Award

Georgian mountain climbers Baqar Gelashvili, Archil Badriashvili and Giorgi Tepnadze received the prestigious Piolets d’Or Award for their ascent of Pakistan’s Saraghrar peak. Georgian mountaineers became the first climbers to conquer this peak.

Piolets d’Or (Golden Ice Axe) is an annual mountaineering award given by the French magazine Montagnes since 1992. Golden Ice Axes is considered to be the Oscar of mountaineering and climbing.

The award ceremony will take place on November 18-20 in Briançon, France, the highest city in Europe.
