Georgian Border Police Special Aviation marks 27th anniversary

On April 22, the Special Aviation of the Georgian Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) celebrates its anniversary. It has turned 27 today.

Border Police Head Davit Tamazashvili, MIA officials and invited guests attended a special event organized In connection with the date.

The event observed a minute of silence to commemorate the hero pilots, who died in the 2022 Gudauri crash of a helicopter belonging to the Border Police of Georgia.

Davit Tamazashvili congratulated the staff on Professional Day and awarded them for professionalism.

After the event, the guests viewed the new H145 helicopters showcased at the Border Aviation Department airfield.

Special Aviation of the Georgian Border Police plays a key role in monitoring the state border and participates in significant operations. In the last three years, the aviation staff performed 728 different tasks, totalling 1,662 flight hours.
