Georgian and Swiss experts discuss migration challenges and future cooperation

The next working meeting of experts within the Georgia–Switzerland partnership in the field of migration was held at the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, the Ministry of Justice reported.

The event was opened by Deputy Minister of Justice Giorgi Dgebuadze, who spoke about progress in migration management and emphasized the importance of cooperation with partner countries in preventing illegal migration, combating the misuse of asylum procedures, and strengthening overall migration governance.

During the meeting, Georgian and Swiss representatives discussed current migration challenges, specific proposals for enhancing cooperation, and future plans.

Under the memorandum signed between the two countries, expert-level discussions on migration have been held regularly since 2022. This year’s fourth meeting brought together representatives from the Ministries of Justice, Foreign Affairs, and Internal Affairs, as well as officials from the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Protection, and the Secretariat of the Governmental Commission on Migration Issues.
