Georgia will send a liaison officer to Europol. The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Nino Javakhadze stated in that regard. She has summarized her visit to Germany and Austria.
According to Deputy Minister, the officer will be sent to Europol after signing the memorandum. In addition, the activation of a secure channel for exchanging the operative information is planned.
“We held meetings with our German and Austrian colleagues. We discussed the statistics about asylum-seekers from Georgia as well as the crime rate. The figures of asylum seekers are growing, but they are not alarming. We informed the colleagues about the events planned by the Georgian Government, including complication of the rules on changing surnames, as well as the information campaign that have been already started. Our colleagues welcomed these initiatives”, – Javakhadze said.
According to the Deputy Minister, the sides agreed on more intensively exchange of operative information. According to her, the role of police attaches was positively assessed at meetings in Austria as well as in Germany.
Within the framework of the visit, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs met the Minister of Interior of North Westphalia, as well as officials in Austria.
