“The American people have stood in solidarity with the people of Georgia and their desire to be a free and sovereign country,” said Jalina Porter, Principal Deputy Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State at the press briefing.

Porter was asked about the details of Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili’s visit in Washington and the State Department’s concerns that Russian threats to Georgia could pose a risk to the U.S. interests in the region.

The American people have stood in solidarity with the people of Georgia and their desire to be a free and sovereign country. Over the years we’ve also developed into strategic partners working together towards our shared vision of Georgia fully integrated into the Euro-Atlantic family of nations, and as a part of a Europe whole, free, and at peace,” she said.
