The World Tourism Organization (WTO) of the United Nations announced Georgia as the host country of World Tourism Day in 2024, as unanimously voted pro by 38 countries at the WTO’s 68th Commission sitting in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, said the decision serves as a “recognition of Georgia’s tourism industry.”

“We will have the opportunity to host high-level representatives of the tourism industry and other sectors as well as the international media,” Mariam Kvrivishvili said.

Deputy Minister added that hosting World Tourism Day will contribute to Georgia’s popularization and positioning in the international tourism market, thus positively reflecting the Georgian economy.
