Georgia to host 2023 Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships

First time in history, the Georgian ski resort of Bakuriani will host a ski cross test event for the 2023 FIS World Championships on 26-28 February 2021.

Fifty-one international athletes from nine countries will participate in the event.

The qualifications will be held on February 26, followed by the finals on February 27 and the world premiere of the ski cross mixed team event on February 28.

On top of that, Bakuriani will host the Snowboard Cross Europa Cup competition on 3-5 March 2021.

Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava met with the event organizers on Thursday.

Turnava vowes Bakuriani is ready to host the events in line with FIS-developed Covid-19 protocols, rules, and regulations.

“We discussed the prospects for our winter ski resorts. Georgia as a new country on the world map of the international winter competitions and championships was positively assessed,” Minister added.

The International Ski Federation (FIS) chose Bakuriani as host for the 2023 Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships back in 2018.
