Georgia ranked the 7th place in the Ease of Doing Business 2020 among the 190 countries covered by the World Bank Group annual report. Compared to the previous year, Georgia’s ranking has been worsened by one position, as the country ranked sixth in the 2019 report.
In 2020 report Georgia has 83.7 scores, improved by 0.2 points compared to the previous year.
The countries are measured by 10 indicators. Georgia’s scores in five of them have been improved this year and five remained unchanged.
Georgia has the best performance in terms of Starting a Business. In this respect, the country ranks second in the world, ahead is only New Zealand, and occupies fifth in the Registering Property. Georgia ranks seventh in terms of Protecting Minority Investors.
The World Bank report notes that Georgia’s scores improved in dealing with construction permits in terms of quality control by increasing information publicity.
New Zealand leads the ranking with 86.8 points in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business 2020, followed by Singapore, Hong Kong, Denmark, South Korea and the United States. In addition to Georgia, the UK, Norway and Sweden are in the top ten.
