Georgia marks Family Purity and Respect for Parents Day
Processions marking the Day of Family Purity and Respect for Parents will be held today, May 17, in Tbilisi and other major cities across Georgia.
In Tbilisi, clergy members and parishioners will gather at 10:00 a.m. at Kashveti St. George Church.
At 11:00 a.m., participants will begin a ceremonial prayer procession toward the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi, where Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi, and Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia Shio III will lead the first festive liturgy. Delegations from various churches are also expected to attend the service.
Public processions will also take place in several other cities, including: Rustavi – City Hall; Kutaisi – Agmashenebeli Cathedral; Gori – Resurrection Cathedral; Batumi – Cathedral; Akhaltsikhe – Ascension Church; Zugdidi – Dadiani Cathedral; Telavi – Church of the Virgin Mary; Mtskheta – Teatroni and Ozurgeti – Cathedral.
