Georgia elected as FAO Council member

Georgia has been elected as a Council member of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for two years, from July 7, 2023, to June 30, 2025, at the FAO 43rd Conference held in Rome on July 1-7.

The FAO Council has 49 organization’s member countries, which are elected once every two years within the framework of the conference.

The Council, within the limits of the powers, delegated to it by the Conference, acts as the Conference’s executive organ between sessions. It exercises functions dealing with the world food and agriculture situation, the organization’s current and prospective activities, including its Programme of Work and Budget, administrative matters and financial management.
