Georgia does its best to get EU candidate status quickly, PM says

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili remarked during a joint news conference with his Hungarian counterpart that his government is doing and will continue to do all possible to ensure that the country gets EU candidate status as soon as possible.

He claims that work on EC’s 12 recommendations is underway and that the door has been opened to all actors.

“We are now working on the 12 proposals put forward by the European Commission. We have invited all stakeholders to engage in this process, including the non-governmental sector and opposition parties. We are doing everything possible to guarantee that Georgia gets the status as soon as possible,” the PM said.

In this challenging time, according to Irakli Garibashvili, governments bear an immense responsibility to safeguard the interests of their countries and people. Simultaneously, Irakli Garibashvili stated Georgia is committed to its European path.

“Our economy is growing in the double digits, and we must do everything necessary to bring our country closer to Europe and European structures as soon as possible,” the PM continued.
