Georgia and Azerbaijan's Economy Ministers meet in Baku

Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, who pays a visit to Azerbaijan, met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov.

Mikayil Jabbarov congratulated his Georgian counterpart on the appointment as Minister and wished her success in her future endeavours. He expressed hope that “this would be the continuation of new successful cooperation.”

The two counterparts engaged in revising priority trends of bilateral trade-economic relations focusing on prospects for cooperation over infrastructure projects of regional significance.

According to the Georgian Economy Ministry, the ministers accentuated positive dynamics in trade between Georgia and Azerbaijan. Mariam Kvrivishvili said Azerbaijan was one of Georgia’s largest trading partners. She provided the details, saying that based on the January-May data for 2025, exports from Georgia to Azerbaijan increased by 12 %.

The ministers underlined that cooperation could further intensify in investments, transport, logistics, tourism, civil aviation, agriculture, and communications.

According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, Azerbaijan was the fifth among the countries with the most international visitors entering Georgia.

Minister Kvrivishvili invited her Azerbaijani counterpart to participate in this year’s fifth consecutive Silk Road Forum in Tbilisi. The meeting was attended by Deputy Economy Ministers Gennady Arveladze and Guram Guramishvili, as well as Georgian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zurab Pataradze.
