Geneva talks resume after long break

The negotiation process would resume after a long break, which is crucial. Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia, Lasha Darsalia commented on the 51st round of the international talks in Geneva on the consequences of the 2008 Russia-Georgia war.

The negotiation process resumed against a quite severe political background.

Unfortunately, there is quite a severe political background to the negotiation process, which is primarily related to the steps that Russia is taking towards the annexation of the occupied territories. I mean the recent meetings and the documents that have been signed [with Georgian occupied territories de-facto authorities]. Besides, there is a quite serious development in the view of security, human rights, and humanitarian issues, including provocations related to arrests and, in general, ethnic discrimination in the occupied territories. The Georgian delegation will raise those issues, Lasha Darsalia said.
