Gela Charkviani dies at 82

Georgian diplomat, publicist, writer, teacher and TV Presenter Gela Charkviani, 82, died. Charkviani’s family members confirmed his death.

“Gela Charkviani’s life, interesting and publicly weighed in many aspects, was preconditioned by his progressiveness and personal attraction,” Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said in a condolence statement.

“I heartily regret the death of an outstanding and beloved to everybody Tbilisi resident Gela Charkviani. Tbilisi lost the person, who filled our city life with his activities,” Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said.
