GD’s press office accuses EU Ambassador of spreading disinformation about Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration

“EU Ambassador to Georgia, Paweł Herczyński, has conveyed false information claiming that Georgia will halt its Euro-Atlantic integration process for four years,” a statement from the Georgian Dream’s Communication Department posted on their Facebook page, In Reality.

The statement emphasizes that the Georgian authorities have explicitly affirmed their commitment to the implementation of the Association Agreement.

“The EU Ambassador to Georgia, Paweł Herczyński, is spreading disinformation by asserting that ‘Georgia is stopping the Euro-Atlantic integration process for four years.’ In reality, the government has explicitly stated that they are diligently pursuing the implementation of the Association Agreement and expect to complete 90% of it by 2028,” the statement reads.

Herczynski responded to comments made by Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, who stated yesterday, “Until the end of 2028, we will not raise the issue of opening negotiations with the European Union. We are refusing grants from the European Union; we will continue our progress towards the EU but will not allow anyone the opportunity for permanent blackmail.”

In his evaluation of Kobakhidze’s remarks, Herczyński remarked, “The announcement from yesterday that Georgia stops its accession efforts for the next 4 years is really regrettable.”
