GD's Mdinaradze: We seek clarity on U.S. Embassy's stance under new president

“Representatives of the ‘Deep State’ were lobbying to finance revolution in Georgia. This no longer needs much review. It is crystal clear that American taxpayers’ money, against their will, was being used to organize a revolution in Georgia,” stated Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Georgian Dream Executive Secretary.

According to Mdinaradze, the attitude of the U.S. Embassy in Georgia, which goes beyond the current U.S. administration’s disposition, is also regrettable.

“Yesterday, the Embassy had to react to my personal statement, where there was a very general text about what values and approaches they share with Trump or Rubio. In this case, not a single word was said about the Embassy’s attitude toward current positions of U.S. leaders regarding, for example, family values and anti-LGBT propaganda, transparency, USAID’s harmfully spent funds, peace, as well as the notion that countries should resolve their own issues themselves. They criticized my knowledge but actually said not a single word about the fortunately changed narrative by President Trump and Marco Rubio,” Mdinaradze stated.

According to him, the Embassy can easily prove that it truly shares the approaches of the new U.S. President.

“When we want to ensure that the Embassy acts in accordance with its leader’s and newly elected President’s views, we want to hear not general phrases, but specifically the Embassy’s position on those changed attitudes that have been voiced countless times, for example, by President Trump.

It’s unbelievable that the Embassy would try to have the ‘Deep State’ agents act differently and continue their arbitrary actions. Everyone, both in Georgia and America, is convinced that if they instruct those people who are organizing street protests today, the harmful activities still ongoing against Georgia would end in a minute.

Therefore, someone wrote and I agree, ‘We believe the oath, but are surprised by the end,’ the actions of those people and the Embassy’s statement are not actually in alignment with each other, and they can easily prove that they truly share the approaches of the newly elected U.S. President,” Mdinaradze stated.

For information, Mamuka Mdinaradze, Executive Secretary of the Georgian Dream, stated yesterday: “It is regrettable that the statements and narratives of the newly elected U.S. government stand in stark contrast to the actions of its lower echelons, including the US Embassy in Georgia, which are completely detached from the words we hear. Hopefully, this will be corrected very soon.”

Later, the U.S. Embassy responded to Mamuka Mdinaradze’s statement: “Mr. Mdinaradze’s statements today are categorically false and demonstrate a lack of understanding of what the United States Embassy does to support President Trump and Secretary of State Rubio’s top priorities of making America safer, stronger and more prosperous.”
