GD's Mdinaradze: UNM-removed high treason article to be reinstated in Criminal Code

“The article on high treason, which was previously removed from the Criminal Code by the United National Movement, will be reinstated to the Criminal Code,” Mamuka Mdinaradze, the parliamentary majority leader, has stated.

According to Mdinaradze, the parliamentary majority made this decision at today’s meeting.

“With our decision, the Criminal Code of Georgia will be amended—or, more accurately, the article concerning high treason will be reinstated. This article had been previously removed from the Criminal Code by the United National Movement. Whether this is surprising or not, or merely symbolic, it occurred before the August war; they took this action in April 2007,” stated Mamuka Mdinaradze.
