GD's Mdinaradze blames of betrayal those who accuse Georgia of helping Russia evade sanctions
“Those who accuse Georgia of aiding Russia in circumventing the internationally imposed sanctions are enemies of their own country. I cannot imagine a greater betrayal,” said Mamuka Mdinaradze, the leader of the parliamentary majority.
Mamuka Mdinaradze remarked on the opinion of the Democracy Research Institute, which reads Georgia keeps concrete relations with Russia and that the Georgian government assists Russia in bypassing sanctions in coordination with occupied Abkhazia.
According to Mdinaradze, whoever blames Georgia, be it an organization, NGO, opposition politician, lawmaker, mass media outlet, or journalist, is an enemy of the country.
Mdinaradze noted that acting in the interests of the occupant country is “far from the reality.”
“A group working on sanctions arrived in Georgia and found no evidence that Georgia had assisted Russia in bypassing sanctions. When a representative of your country says that Georgia aids Russia, they commit treason. We have to give it its own name. I can’t imagine a bigger treason than that,” he said.
