The ruling Georgian Dream party will hold a meeting and congress of the Political Council today, February 1.
The Political Council will officially approve the candidacy for the position of Prime Minister.
The congress, scheduled to start at 2 p.m., will elect a new chairperson.
It is anticipated that the current chair of the party, Irakli Kobakhidze, will be the candidate for the PM position, while former PM Irakli Garibashvili will assume the role of the party chair.
In the upcoming session week, the Members of Parliament will approve the new Prime Minister and the composition of the government.
Irakli Garibashvili resigned from the Prime Minister’s post on January 29.
