Mamuka Mdinaradze, Executive Secretary of the Georgian Dream (GD) party, announced that the ruling party has no intention of withdrawing the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence.
“No, you won’t be pleased, but we will not repel it,” he told reporters during a briefing.
Mdinaradze emphasized that the country would descend into chaos without this law, suggesting that tens of thousands of people would have been rallying at Rustaveli Avenue even as he spoke.
He also criticized opponents for labelling everything national as “Russian,” a term he said has become fashionable for them.
“If such a law did not exist, and if we did not have the support of our people, tens of thousands would have been rallying at Rustaveli right now, and the area would be in disarray. They have simply run out of steam and realized that fake protests yield no results. The majority of the Georgian people have legitimized both this law and the prohibition of propaganda,” he stated.
