GD not to judge sanctions imposed by Ukraine against Georgian individuals

Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party Irakli Kobakhidze said the Georgian government did not intend to judge imposition of sanctions by Ukraine against Georgian individuals taking into account Ukraine’s situation an people being in a war.

“It is a regrettable fact and we have remarked on the issue a number of times. Of course, imposition of sanctions is an unfriendly move. However, we are not going to judge it taking into account the situation of Ukraine and its people being in a war. This is one-sided friendship and will continue to be so, unfortunately,” Kobakhidze said.

Four Georgian individuals, Alexander Ivanishvili, Ucha Mamatsashvili, Tate Mamatsashvili, and Ketevan Kharaidze, were added to Ukraine’s sanctions list by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The sanctioned individuals were linked with the ex-Georgian PM, the Georgian Dream (GD) party founder Bidzina Ivanishvili, according to Davit Arakhamia, the chair of the Ukrainian ruling party in parliament.
