Chairman of the parliamentary Human Rights Committee, Mikheil Sarjveladze, said the Georgian society heard many viewpoints from the ex-president today that merely are a tailored reality.

“Saakashvili assessed the judiciary as a mistake made by the government that could have been better. But in fact, the ugly artificial system of justice they created functioned under the executives abolishing justice,” Sarjveladze said.

Human Rights Committee Chair said it is up to the Georgian people to assess whether or not the Interior Minister personally decided on the Imedi TV crackdown and violent dispersal of the November 7 peaceful protest. “I don’t think this assertion has many prospects,” Sarjveladze claimed.

Mikheil Sarjveladze also echoed the rally organized outside the Tbilisi City Court amid the ex-president’s trial. He said the opposition United National Movement (UNM) sought destruction. “We have seen everything but a peaceful protest,” Sarjveladze said.

The trial of former president Mikheil Saakashvili to the November 7 episode was held at Tbilisi City Court. Meantime, his supporters rallied in front of the court building amid tightened security measures.
