GD Executive Secretary: Certain actors carry out assigned tasks, public sees their true face
“The public has made a very clear choice, and this cannot be delayed. Certain actors continue to openly and unashamedly carry out the tasks assigned to them. They are frustrated because society has already seen their true face,” said Executive Secretary of the Georgian Dream, Irakli Kirtskhalia.
According to him, statements such as those made by the EU Ambassador to Georgia, Pawel Herczynski, are offensive, although not new to the public.
“Unfortunately, such rhetoric is not new to us. Society has, to some extent, become accustomed to this kind of tone. When we consider the Ambassador’s previous statements, including those made shortly after remarks by the Prime Minister, we see what can only be described as an ‘absurd theater’—a narrative built on what we consider false perceptions.
It should also be recalled that, in our view, there was direct involvement in pre-election processes, both during parliamentary and local elections, including calls to support specific political forces. Given this background, it is not surprising that similar rhetoric has been repeated.
We believe such statements go beyond acceptable diplomatic norms in the host country. At the same time, it is important to note that society clearly understands what is at stake. The public has already made its choice and recognizes the direction in which certain forces are attempting to steer the country.
There is nothing personal in this—we see these individuals as conveying positions and messages they are tasked with delivering. The most important thing is that a self-respecting state responds appropriately to such statements, and we believe that response has been adequate,” Kirtskhalia said.
