The Communications Department of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party echoed Transparency International’s 2022 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI).
“In fact, for the first time in the history of this index, Georgia ranks among the best in Europe,” the Georgian Dream communications department declared.
Furthermore, the GD communication department believes that the TI-Georgia report is deceptive and intended to represent the country’s progress negatively.
“Transparency International-Georgia published the 2022 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI). Compared to the last year, Georgia’s rating improved from 45th to 41st place among 180 countries. TI-Georgia tries to portray this achievement in a negative context with the phrases such as ‘we are ahead of several European countries,’ or ‘we have not made significant progress,'” the ruling party’s communications department explains.
According to Transparency International’s 2022 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), Georgia scored 56 points, which is a one-point increase compared to the previous year. In the past, the country had 56 points 3 times: in 2017, 2019 and 2020. Georgia ranks 41st among 180 countries included in the ranking.
