Chair of the Georgian ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, Irakli Kobakhidze, remarked on the one-year anniversary of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine on Facebook.
According to Kobakhidze, Georgia’s friend Ukrainian people came face-to-face with a tragedy they did not deserve. He said the war claimed the lives of tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians, among them over 450 children, which is the most “painful.”
Military hostilities, Kobakhidze said, turned 16 million people into refugees and destroyed the country’s infrastructure and economy.
“Since the beginning of the war, we have repeatedly called on the international community to do its best not to admit this war and avoid the tragedy. However, Russian aggression still occurred.
Ukrainian soldiers and volunteers fight heroically to defend their own country’s independence and territorial integrity. I bow before their bravery and dedication. I wish our friend Ukrainian people independence and territorial integrity restoration. Слава Україні!,” Kobakhidze said.
Today marks the one-year anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
