GD Chair says Parliament not to adopt de-oligarchization bill next week

The Parliament will not pass the de-oligarchization bill with the third reading next week, said Irakli Kobakhidze, Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party.

As Kobakhidze explained, the request not to pass the bill comes from the European partners. The recent Brussels meetings of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili with the European Council President Charles Michel and EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi touched upon this issue.

According to Irakli Kobakhidze, the ruling team took this request into account and will return to this issue in December.

“We will wait for the viewpoints of the European Commission and European Council in December. We wonder if de-oligarchization, which implies a personalized approach, will be removed. Until then, we will not consider the bill,” he said.
