“Opposition representatives had the acceptance day yesterday. We have asserted for months that the opposition is lobbying against candidate status,” said Irakli Kobakhidze, the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party chair.
According to the GD Chair, opposition MP Khatuna Samnidze had concrete individuals in mind when making her statement.
“I have the information that she meant the United National Movement, Lelo, and Nika Gvaramia, though she did not go into details. But we know for sure that these people toured Europe and not only European countries. They lobbied against candidate status. The opposition representative Samnidze has actually confirmed what we have been asserting for so long,” he said.
On October 24, opposition MP Khatuna Samnidze said that some opposition politicians sent other messages to international partners, preventing decision-making on Georgia’s candidate status.
