GD Chair says no person from "collective UNM" to be elected as Vice Speaker

“No person from the collective United National Movement (UNM) will be elected as Vice Speaker of the Georgian parliament,” said Irakli Kobakhidze, Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party.

Kobakhidze said he meant the UNM, Lelo, For Georgia and Strategy Aghmashenebeli parties.

“If the collective UNM refuses to nominate the candidate and the person will be presented from the rest of the opposition, we will consider supporting the candidate,” he said.

According to the GD Chair, “the choice is extremely narrow” and “there is no problem if this seat is not filled.”
